Geospatial TriggersLocation triggers cause actions to occur automatically based on a mobile device’s location, speed of travel and or proximity to another device. Device triggers allow for some interesting and useful mobile location use cases. Mobile Marketing A restaurant near a busy highway wants to target a happy hour promotion to commuters during rush hour to supplement its normal walk-in clientele. With a speed trigger and attribute filter, opted-in commuters 21 years of age and older and travelling between 45 and 55 miles per hour within 2 miles receive a coupon for a free drink. The message can even contain navigation points that direct the commuters to the parking lot removing any concernes about where to stash their vehicles. Enterprise Asset Tracking (M2M) A shipping crate containing handmade Italian furniture is shipped from the warehouse to the customer’s location in the USA. Due to the high value of the merchandise, an M2M inventory device was attached to the crate, allowing for total visibility of the parcel. Built-in accelerometers assure the U.S. distributor that the furniture did not suffer any damage en-route. When the parcel arrives at port in the USA, a message is automatically sent to the distributor and customer, made possible with an invisible geofence with a device trigger. The two scenarios above, illustrate what ZOS calls Events. Events incorporate all the parameters necessary to automate location-based actions, including triggers, actions, device users involved, schedule and frequency. |
